About

For me, psychology is the discipline of trying to understand.

I live in İzmir. I hold online individual sessions with adults and work with children and adolescents through play and activity.

Portrait of psychologist Hatice Nur Irmak

I graduated in 2025 from the Psychology (English) programme at İzmir Democracy University. I didn't want my studies to stay inside lecture halls: I volunteered with the Turkish Psychological Association providing psychological support in the earthquake region, shadowed practitioners at the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, and joined social responsibility projects working with children.

My thesis examined the effect of attachment styles on substance dependency. That work left me with a lens I still carry: most behaviour is a form of protection learned in our earliest relationships. Seen that way, the question “why do I keep doing this?” stops being an accusation.

After graduating I continued my training in cognitive behavioural therapy and child-centred play-based work. In sessions I bring these two threads together according to the age and needs of the person in front of me.
